8th Grade Science Teacher

At Wyandot I am using the Michigan High School Content Expectations and Next Generation Science Standards to deliver the Earth Science Content. I utilize a variety of different lessons to engage my students in the content. These lessons include claim, evidence, reasoning and rebuttal, inquiry, hands on activities, visible thinking, and technology. In addition to science I also teach a literacy elective.

During my three years at UPA I utilized the Michigan Grade Level Content Expectations and Next Generation Science Standards to enhance the Science Education for Puplic Understanding Program. I implemented an inquiry based instructional approach to engage my students in the science content. I was also the lead teacher at my grade level. As lead teacher I maintained positive culture through PBIS and mentoring programs. I also was co-sponsor for the international travel club.

I completed multiple long term guest teacher assignments at the middle school level. During my long term positions I taught science, technology, creative experessions and life skills. I also coached boys and girls intramural basketball and volunteered as assistant coach for the 8th grade girls and boys basketball teams.
