Welcome to my classroom!

I teach eighth grade Earth Science at Wyandot Middle School. This is my first year at Wyandot, but I have been teaching eighth grade for the past four years. Eighth graders certainly keep it interesting! My classroom is designed to harness all the positives that an eighth grader brings to the classroom every day. My classroom is set up to foster collaboration among my students. Thirteen and fourteen year olds are very social and it is important to bring that into teaching the content.

This year in Earth science we will be covering the Big Bang theory, life cycle of a star, formation of Earth, geologic time, plate tectonics, and much more. There is a lot to cover in one year and we do so through the use of videos, demonstrations, modeling, lab activities, group work, and projects. We also incorporate technology into our class as much as possible! On a daily basis in the classroom we utilize the SMART board and document camera. We are fortunate to have many laptop carts available and computer labs. We use the computers for WebQuests, research, design, and personal projects. For example, we have a great project designed where you create your own Jeopardy boards.
